Christ asking the Father to send Him to earth

I recall reading somewhere or in one of Walter Veith's videos regarding an Ellen White statment in which Pre-Incarnate Christ had to ask the Father three times before being sent to the earth to save humanity. Is anyone familiar with this quote and a reference of where it can be found?
